more than few decades remain before the chance to avert the threats we
now confront will be lost and the prospects for humanity immesurably
diminished. WE, the undersigned members of the world scientific
community, warn all humanity what lie ahead. A great change in the
stewardship of the Earth and life on it is required if wast human misery
is to be avoided and our global home on this planet not to be
irretrievably mutilated.
